July 2009 Rider(s) of the Month- Allen Sivley
Allen Sivley

Bike (Model and Year): 2009 FatBoy

Years on a Harley: less than 1, other bikes: 5yrs

Most Memorable Riding Moment: My first group ride with the HOG chapter in April. finally doing and being a part of something I had always wanted.

Most Embarrassing Moment: Dropping mymotorcyclecyde trailer on my face while I was under it. hence the 4 inch scar. Stupid mistake, late at night. 4 hour trip to the ER and a lot of explaining to do.

Why do you ride: I started riding a Kawasaki KEI00 when I was 15. The experience was so different from riding in an automobile that I was instantly hooked. The experience of riding puts me in a whole different state of mind, actually seeing. smelling. and hearing so much more than just sitting in a car or truck. It is exhilarating as well as relaxing.

Song that gets you in a riding mood and why: Anything by George Thorogood, I find that almo'it all of his soogs are personally motivating. especially "One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer".

What you would like HOG members to know about you: I am not a "the glass is half empty", or "the glass is half full" kind of personl, I am a "You have the wrong size glass!" kind of person. I have always believed in having fun, laughing. and enjoying life but since the recent passing of my wife, I have realized how short life really is, and the need to make the most of everyday: good, bad or otherwise. So while some might choose not to ride because of a 40% chance of rain, I choose to ride because there is a 60% chance it won't rain,

Name one thing you would like your Chapter to do for the good of the Chapter: The only thing I would currently recommend that would benefit the Chapter is that the Chapter develop a Mentor program for our newer riders, I have a friend that recently started riding and although I have been trying to mentor him to becoming a safer more confident rider, it would be nice if someone with more experience, could formally mentor him on group rides, etc until he was at a more coofident level.
